Rotherham College Students Showcase Talent at FREDIE Exhibition
Last week, Rotherham College proudly hosted an inspiring exhibition celebrating student talent while promoting the values of the College’s FREDIE policy – Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement.
The event, held on Thursday 30th January, featured work from students across fashion, art, media, and music, alongside powerful contributions from Humanity Cartoons, highlighting the global plight of refugees.
The exhibition drew a diverse audience, including the Mayor of Rotherham, who commended the students for their incredible creativity and commitment to making Rotherham a more inclusive and equal place.
Through their work, students explored important social themes, reinforcing the importance of fairness and diversity in today’s society.
The event was organised by the College’s FREDIE coordinators, Ellie Eagleton and Grace Bower as part of Rotherham’s Children’s Capital of Culture programme, a year-long initiative focused on empowering young people.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Ellie said:
“As RNN’s FREDIE Coordinators, we have been responsible for delivering diversity and inclusion-based activities and events like this for Rotherham College for the past six months. The FREDIE Fair was a final project and we’re thrilled so many people came out to support it.”
Grace echoed this sentiment, adding:
“2025 is all about young people like us taking centre stage and creating change for our borough. The work presented by the college students touched on important themes of fairness, respect, equality, diversity, inclusion, and engagement, all of which will help Rotherham become the best version of itself as we celebrate our new Children’s Capital of Culture status.”
The exhibition not only showcased the artistic and creative talents of Rotherham College students but also reinforced the importance of fostering a fair and inclusive community.
The event was a true testament to the power of young voices in shaping a brighter, more equal future for all.
