Student Secures First Accounting Role Through Rotherham College

Laura Pickard-Hill is a current Level 3 Accounting student who has recently started a new part-time role as Accounts Administrator for local business, Point Solutions Ltd. The company advertised the role and reached out to Rotherham College and Accountancy tutor Conal White, who encouraged Laura to express an interest.

Laura said, “The company manager phoned me back and we had a chat about my experience and my plans for the future – the phone call was on the Friday and he asked me to come in the following Monday for an interview, which he then asked when I would be available to start; I was over the moon!”

Laura is hoping to go on to university to specialise in forensic accountancy, however her plans may be postponed for the time being. Laura added, “I’m not sure if my career path will change as I’m really enjoying my new role – my manager is very welcoming and lets me work flexible hours to fit around childcare and college, which is a huge benefit for me.”
