Jeans for Genes Raises Money for Genetic Disorder

As part of Jeans for Genes Day, staff and students at Rotherham College have been wearing jeans and have raised a total of £53.00 to support individuals and families affected by a genetic disorder.

Jeans for Genes Day is an annual fundraising campaign for Genetic Disorders UK, which funds the work of the charity and provides grants to organisations for projects aiming to support children with genetic disorders.

Welfare Officer Louise Heap helped engage students with the fundraising initiative and get them involved with raising funds.

Louise said: “We’ve been wearing jeans to help raise money for Jeans for Genes. It’s great to see so many students donating – it isn’t too hard to wear jeans I suppose!

“It’s brilliant to be raising money for such a good cause; it’s added value to get our students more aware of the charity Genetic Disorders UK. It’s all the better that this fundraising effort gets students involved in a way that they’d like to naturally.”
