Hair and Media Make-up Set to Impress at UK Skills Showcase
Rotherham College’s Hair and Media Make-up department have been chosen to deliver the Showcase at the UK Skills Show this year. The nation’s largest skills, apprenticeship and careers event will be running from the 16-18 November 2017 at the NEC in Birmingham.
The department’s application was chosen for the second year in a row from a range of contenders. They will be taking a mix of 13 students from the Higher Education and Level 3 courses to create a range of looks inspired by various themes across the hair and media makeup department. The looks will involve prosthetics, avant-garde, hair extensions, wigs and make-up.
The students will be working in pairs to create their showcase look and will then speak to the audience throughout the three-day event explaining their inspiration behind their creations and the methods used. The audience will also have the opportunity to have a go at a few activities themselves such as creating hair wefts.
Katie Asgari, Curriculum Leader for Media Make-up, says “It is an absolute honour to have been chosen again for a second year. The learners gain so much experience by taking part in this opportunity and it allows them to share their creations and skills to others. ”
