Staff and learners from the Foundation Learning department at Rotherham College have created a touching tribute for NHS and care workers on the frontline tackling the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Foundation Learning department teaches our learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as well as those with complex and high need conditions.

Tutors, Learning Support Assistants and learners have performed a special rendition of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ as part of their college work. The specially created music video shows learners and staff singing and signing along to the Judy Garland classic.

Rotherham College Head of SEND and High Needs, Tanya Gerstmar, oversees the Foundation Learning department and was particularly impressed by the efforts of the learners.

Tanya said: “I’m exceptionally proud of the learners, and I’m so pleased to share just one example of what our learners have been working on during these particularly challenging times.

“This tribute really strikes a chord with me as my husband works in the NHS, and I know that I, the Foundation Learning department and everyone from Rotherham College would like to say a big thank you to all the NHS staff and care workers who are playing such a vital role in fighting against the Coronavirus.”
