Fun In The Sun! – FLEX Students Take Part in Cross-Campus Sports Day
Last week, FLEX students from Rotherham College, North Notts College and Dearne Valley College participated in a competitive, but friendly sports day, hosted at Dearne Valley College.
Making the most of the summer weather, the students took part in a range of different sporting activities including Rounders, Corn Hole and Glow-In-The-Dark Football.
North Notts College students Bayley Armstrong and Alana Sumnal spoke extremely positively about the sports day.
Bayley said: “I really liked Dearne Valley College, the staff and my fellow students are so nice. I’m looking forward to going again.”
Alana added: “I really enjoyed the day, getting involved and meeting new people from the other colleges and seeing the animals too, especially the Meerkats, they are so cute.”
Curriculum Manager for FLEX – Claire Bunclark who not only attended the event but also actively participated in all of the sporting activities, commented on how positive the feedback from the event has been and what the students gained from participating in the event.
Claire said: “What a fabulous opportunity for the students to enjoy a collaborative cross-college Sports event. Students thoroughly enjoyed the day and were able to develop their personal skills in the process.
She continued: “The weather was perfect for the occasion and the day was completed with cold drinks and ice lollies for all the students. All students involved asked if we could arrange similar cross-college events as they all had so much fun at the sports day.
Students also used the opportunity to look at the facilities and vocational areas that they could access in the future. Allowing them to widen their progression choices and give them the chance to experience another campus and make new friends.”
