Fashion Students Gain Insight into Sustainable Business at Retribe Visit
Last Thursday, our Year 2 Fashion students had the valuable opportunity to visit Retribe, a local sustainable fashion business.
Based in Sheffield, Retribe is well-regarded for its dedication to environmentally friendly practices, creating pieces that resonate with both style and sustainability.
The visit provided an up-close look at how a small business operates while staying true to sustainable principles.
During their time at Retribe, students met with the co-founder, who offered a detailed walkthrough of the business.
The experience covered the entire process of fashion production – from marketing and social media strategies to planning, pattern making, fabric organisation, and prototyping, right through to final production.
This hands-on experience allowed the students to see the importance of each step in bringing a garment from concept to completion in a sustainable way.
The students engaged with the experience enthusiastically, gaining practical insights into the skills they’ve been developing on their course.
By understanding the intricacies of a working sustainable business, they enhanced their knowledge and witnessed the effort required to maintain ethical practices in fashion production.
This visit not only showcased the students’ professionalism and engagement but also enriched their learning journey by embedding valuable skills they can carry forward.
They returned inspired and motivated, having seen firsthand how sustainable practices and small-scale operations can make a big impact on the future of fashion.
