Art Students Gain Inspiration from Industry Experts
Last Friday, students on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design had the unique opportunity to participate in mentoring sessions with acclaimed artists Lisa O’Hara and Emily Dervey.
This experience was a reward for Abby, Jamie, and Irina, whose outstanding entries in last year’s Museum of the Moon student exhibition at Rotherham Minster earned them recognition. The exhibition was organised by Children’s Capital of Culture.
Lisa O’Hara, an accomplished illustrator and graphic designer, and Emily Dervey, a talented video game artist, shared their professional journeys, insights, and tips with the students.
The sessions offered invaluable guidance for the young artists, who were eager to learn more about pathways into the creative industries.
Jamie Jackson expressed the group’s sentiments, saying the session was “really inspiring and helpful, especially going forward into the creative industries.”
Opportunities like these help bridge the gap between education and the professional world, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to pursue their artistic ambitions. Congratulations to Abby, Jamie, and Irina for their continued success!
