You’ll learn all the key skills for being a Bricklayer: constructing half brick and solid walling, cavity walls, arches and solid wall piers, decorative fireplaces and chimney stacks. Other skills include, brick bonding, trowel skills and building complex masonry. Alongside practical skills you’ll also study health, safety and welfare and site procedures in construction. You’ll meet key employers in the trade and carry out work experience.
You’ll learn how to use wood machinery and power tools, explore all aspects of kitchen fitting, building partition walls, fitting door linings and fitting doors, modern truss roof construction, timber floor and technology and roofing techniques.
You will gain hands-on knowledge and skills of domestic electrical installations allowing you to work towards a career as an Electrician. You will need to achieve a Level 2 and Level 3 course as well as a competency-based qualification to be a fully qualified Electrician.
Our Plumbing courses will prepare you for work in the domestic and industrial sectors. You’ll learn a range of practical skills-based units, depending on the level of the course, plus a variety of bending and jointing techniques, fitting central heating systems, fitting underfloor heating, environmental technologies and gas. Our students also enjoy visits to local employers where they see real-life projects in action.
