Designed in collaboration with employers, this course provides you with the skills needed by the industry. Core components of the course include fundamental knowledge and skills related to the engineering and manufacturing industries.
As you progress through your course, you will receive in-depth training in aspects of engineering, manufacturing processes, and control, building towards your final assessment. Relevant maths, English and digital skills are also embedded.
Taking place over two years, the course requires you to attend college 20 hours per week, with one day each week spent on placement. A significant part of your learning experience will be an industry placement, where you will spend a minimum of 45 days (315 hours) working with an employer.
Choose between two occupational specialisms: Welding and Fabrication or Fitting and Assembly. Each specialism includes a unique exam focused on your pathway, helping you develop the skills for a successful career.

Throughout your studies, you will develop valuable employability skills, with opportunities for hands-on work experience in local industries. You will also take part in visits to key engineering industry events and hear from guest speakers who are experts in the engineering sector, giving you insight into the latest trends and career opportunities.

Some Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided, but students may need to purchase their own boots and overalls along with scientific calculators
