T Level: Digital Production, Design and Development

T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development is a two-year technical study programme, designed with employers to give young people the skills required in industry.

The study programme will provide a mixture of technical knowledge and skills specific to their chosen industry or occupation and an industry placement of at least 45 days in their chosen industry or occupation.

Studying the Digital T Level, learners will be able to develop core skills such as communication, team working, reflective practice, research methods and presentation skills.

Core component: During the 2-year programme, students will learn the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of digital occupations.

• How digital technologies impact businesses  
• The ethical and moral implications of digital technology
• Using data in software design
• Using digital technologies to analyse and solve problems
• Digital environments including physical, virtual and cloud environments
• Emerging technical trends, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Blockchain, 3D printing 
• Legal and regulatory obligations relating to digital technologies
• The privacy and confidentiality of personal data
• The technical, physical and human aspects of internet security
• Planning digital projects
• Testing software, hardware and data
• Digital tools for project management and collaboration

Occupational specialism component: In addition to the core content each student will also develop skills in digital production, design and development. The content will include:

• Analysing a problem to define requirements and acceptance criteria aligned to user needs
• Designing, implementing, and testing software
• Changing, maintaining and supporting software
• Creating solutions in a social and collaborative environment
• Discovering, evaluating, and applying reliable sources of knowledge
• Applying ethical principles and managing risks, in line with legal and regulatory requirements when developing software

Studying the Digital T Level, learners will be able to develop core skills such as:

• Communication
• Team working
• Reflective practice
• Research methods and presentation skills
• English and Mathematics content are embedded and contextualised within the digital qualification content
• Industry Placement – learners will be required to undertake an industry placement in a for a minimum of 45 days (315 hrs)

• Learn from experienced staff with a range of specialist skills
• Use industry standard software and equipment to learn and develop your computing skills
• Learn through practical coding and developing solutions
• Use a range of hardware and electronic equipment to bring your programming skills to life
• Take part in challenges and code clubs to enhance your skills and prepare yourself for future studies or work
• Brand new facilities with top of the range equipment
• A chance to enter world skills events and test your programming skills against others
• As part of this course you will work in industry with a specialist employer in the industry

Grade 5 in maths and English, GCSE computing an advantage or experience of programming.
