Events Manager

Average salary - £21,000 to £40,000*

Event managers organise and run conferences, exhibitions, promotions and business and social events.

Day to day tasks:

Discuss what type of event the client wants and come up with original ideas, work to agreed budgets and timescales, research and book venues and suppliers and negotiate prices, supervise contractors like caterers and security, follow health, safety and insurance regulations, publicise events and manage the running of events.*

Working environments:

You could work in an office, at events, at a venue or at a client’s business. Your working environment may be physically active, you’ll travel often and you may spend nights away from home.*

Broadcast Journalist

Average salary - £23,000 to £42,000*

Broadcast journalists research and present the news on TV, radio and the internet.

Day to day tasks:

Research stories, follow ‘leads’ or develop ideas, prepare and conduct live and pre-recorded interviews, present in a TV or radio studio or on location, record voiceovers for recorded material, ask questions at briefings and press conferences, direct a small camera or sound crew or operate equipment yourself.*

Working environments:

You could work at a TV studio, from home, in an office or at a film studio. Your working environment may be you’ll travel often and outdoors in all weathers.*
