Diploma Technical Occupational Entry for the Early Years Practitioner (Adult P/T)

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years 0-5 years.

It includes both knowledge and skills that meet the Department for Education Early Years Practitioner (DfE EYP) criteria in full and map to the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) within the Early Years Educator occupational standard in England.

This course covers the following topics and many more;

• Roles and responsibilities of the early year’s practitioner
• Health and safety
• Safeguarding, protection and welfare
• How to promote play in early years settings
• Partnership working
• Promote positive behaviour

You will study 14 units which include;

• Roles and responsibilities of the early years practitioner
• Health and safety of babies and young children in early years settings
• Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in early years settings
• Support care routines for babies and young children
• Promote play in an early years settings

Learn from industry experienced and well-qualified tutors who have spent many years in the Early Years sector and have specialist qualifications and knowledge to bring to their teaching.

Participate in regular work placements to boost your skills. A total of 250 hours must be completed.

You will have written assignments to complete in addition to the hours spent in college/placement.

You will be assessed in the workplace against set criteria.

Please note it is your responsibility to secure a placement and gain a clear DBS before you start this programme.

• Maths and English will be required at Level 2 to enter the job market. These can be studied alongside your programme.
• A clear DBS check before starting the programme.
• A voluntary placement at least one day a week in an early years setting before starting the programme.

This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years practitioner within the Early Years Workforce.
