The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years 0-5 years.
This qualification content meets the Department of Education (DFE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the Workforce.
You will complete a total of 37 credits from all 14 units.
Some of the units covered are:-
- Health and safety of babies and young children in the early years.
- Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in Early Years settings.
- Support care routines for babies and young children.
- Support the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes.
- Understand how to support children’s development.
Learn from industry experienced and well-qualified tutors who have spent many years in the Early Years sector and have specialist qualifications and knowledge to bring to their teaching.
Participate in regular work placements to boost your skills.
You will have written assignments to complete in addition to the hours spent in college/placement.
You will be assessed in the workplace against set criteria.
Please note it is your responsibility to secure a placement and gain a clear DBS before you start this programme.
Maths and English will be required at Level 2 to enter the job market.
These can be studied alongside your programme.

A voluntary placement at least one day a week in an early years setting before starting the programme.

This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years practitioner within the Early Years Workforce.
You may work in a variety of settings under supervision;
