The VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Skin Needling is an advanced therapy qualification aimed at level 3 qualified practitioners aged 18 and over who wish to add this therapy to their repertoire of treatment offerings.
The aim of this qualification is to develop the learner’s knowledge, understanding, and practical skills when using superficial skin needling equipment and techniques to rejuvenate the condition of the skin.
Learners will acquire skills involved in providing a thorough consultation, performing skin health checks to establish the client’s suitability for treatment, formulating a specific treatment plan tailored to suit individual client needs. Learners will prepare and apply a range of skin needling treatments, as well as provide the relevant pre-care and post-care.
Learners are required to hold a level 3 beauty therapy qualification or equivalent.
At a minimum, learners are required to hold either the VTCT Level 2 Award in Facial Massage and Skin Care or the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Certificate in Facial Skincare (or equivalent) and a qualification in Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology.

The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment in the advanced aesthetic industry, which provides skin needling techniques. Additionally, learners may choose to further develop their knowledge and skills by completing supplementary specialist qualifications at level 4 in one or more of the following areas:
- VTCT (iTEC) Level 4 Award in Principles and Practice of Aesthetic Therapies
- VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Radio Frequency
- VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Ultrasound
Those aged 19 or over may not need to pay fees depending on their circumstances. Find out if you qualify for help with fees.
