A career in the construction industry is like no other, and demand for bricklayers has never been higher.
As a bricklayer you will lay bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures e.g. chimney stacks. You may also work on refurbishment and restoration projects.
You will study a range of topics including:

- Alternative construction techniques
- Radial and battered brickwork
- Feature and reinforced brickwork
- Fireplaces and chimneys
- Preparation of materials
- Safe working
- Maintaining an effective working area

- Cavity walling
- Positive and mature attitude
- A focus on quality
- Effective communication
- You will work with employers to gain hands-on experience in your industry and earn a salary while you learn
- You will learn from our industry-experienced tutors
- You will be taught in purpose-built, industry-standard facilities
- You will learn new skills, knowledge and behaviours and be able to transfer these skills
- You will have access to a highly qualified functional skills team
- You will have access to all College facilities and be issued with a student card
- You would normally be expected to have completed a Level 1 qualification in brick
- Other relevant experience and qualifications will be considered on an individual basis
- You will also undertake initial diagnostic tests and interview before starting the course
