Engineering – Thomas

Rotherham College student, Thomas, dreams of designing rollercoasters. So much that he has a YouTube channel dedicated to the fastest, craziest and most intense rollercoasters in the world.

Thomas is currently studying mechanical engineering to make his dreams of designing rollercoasters come true.

We caught up with Thomas to ask him about his adrenaline fuelled ideas.

What course are you currently studying?

“I am currently studying Level 2 Mechanical Engineering. I have been a student at Rotherham College since September 2023.”

What has your experience been like studying at Rotherham College?

“My experience at Rotherham College has been incredible! Every day I learn something new, and my time here has presented me with opportunities like never before.”

What sparked your love for roller coasters?

“I’d say it was both the sheer excitement and adrenaline rush you get, and also the technical and operational side of how they function that began my passion for roller coasters (and the amusement industry as a whole).”

What have you enjoyed most about your course?

“I have really enjoyed the practical lessons on my course. The hands-on experience allows me to fully appreciate and understand the hard work and dedication that goes into practical engineering.”

What advice would you give to someone considering this career?

“I’d say go for it. It’s a very rewarding course, and with the right skills, experience and knowledge, the only limit is your imagination!”
