Apprenticeship – Maisey
Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship
Maisey Watson completed her Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship while working full-time at South Yorkshire Pension Authority (SYPA).
Throughout her apprenticeship, Maisey gained valuable customer service skills, time management abilities, and office experience. Her dedication and hard work led her to achieve a distinction grade in her End Point Assessment (EPA) and secure a permanent position within the organisation.
Below, Maisey shares insights into her journey through the apprenticeship.
What motivated you to choose an apprenticeship and how was it delivered to suit your needs?
“I chose to start my customer service apprenticeship because I wanted to continue to study and learn, whilst also working in a full-time job role. The idea of achieving a certificate, whilst also getting paid, appealed to me.
I also wanted to gain the customer service skills included in the apprenticeship programme, to help me progress in my career. The apprenticeship was delivered in a very flexible way so that it could work around my needs as a learner and also around my busy job role at South Yorkshire Pension Authority.”

Did you feel supported throughout your apprenticeship and what skills did you develop?
“Yes. I felt fully supported by my tutor, who set realistic targets and provided the resources I needed to complete my work.
Through the apprenticeship programme, I developed skills and behaviours necessary for working in an office environment, something that was new to me when I started at SYPA. I also improved my time management, organisation, and prioritisation skills, which are now strengths in my role.”
What were your biggest achievements during the apprenticeship?
“My biggest achievements were getting a distinction grade at EPA and securing a permanent role at SYPA as a full-time Pensions Officer.”
Maisey“My advice would be to anyone not wanting to go to university or college after finishing school, that an apprenticeship is always a very good option.”
How did you prepare for your End Point Assessment (EPA)?
“I prepared by completing mock assessments with my tutor, reviewing potential questions for the Professional Discussion and preparing notes.”
“I am looking forward to progressing at SYPA and continuing to develop my skills. There are many internal opportunities available at SYPA that I plan to explore.”
What advice would you give to future apprentices and how do you feel your apprenticeship supports your career?
