Rotherham is Wonderful: Love is in the Air!

7 February 2025

February is the month of love with Valentine’s Day on Friday 14th February, so why not fall in love with your wonderful town Rotherham!

The main message of Valentine’s Day is love and appreciation. It’s a day to express affection, gratitude, and connection with loved ones – whether that’s a romantic partner, friends, or family or your town, it symbolises:

Love and Romance – Celebrating deep emotional bonds.
Affection and Appreciation – Showing you care through words or gestures.
Thoughtfulness and Kindness – Small acts that make someone feel special.

At its heart, Valentine’s Day is about making people feel loved and valued in meaningful ways.  Here’s how our wonderful town – all within a short walk of each other – can help you do this:

Gifting

What better place to find a thoughtful gift than in the British Heart Foundation shop in the centre of Rotherham.

Not only can you get a range of gifts, but all proceeds go towards the biggest independent funder of heart and circulatory research in the UK who  work tirelessly to help find cures and treatments to give people more time with loved ones.

Perfect for this month!

Entertainment

The brand new Arc Cinema in the centre of Rotherham is a great place to enjoy the latest films and releases.

There are special screenings at The Arc Cinema; inclusivity is at the heart of everything they do. Their Sensory Screenings are designed to provide a comfortable and welcoming experience for individuals with sensory sensitivities. Families and individuals are encouraged to feel at ease, allowing everyone to enjoy the magic of the movies together.

Not only that, Monday screenings cater to those who are hearing-impaired and welcome anyone who prefers or enjoys watching movies with subtitles.

Dining

Enjoy a lunch or dinner at Rotherham’s most central fine dining restaurant, The Wharncliffe.

A three course lunch on Thursdays and Fridays costs £14.50, or £22.50 for dinner on Wednesdays or Thursdays all during term time.

The Wharncliffe also does special event evenings which include a six course themed taster menu. Our next event – a Spanish Tapas Night – is on Wednesday 12th February, you can book on by telephone by calling 01709 722767 or by emailing wharncliffe@rnngroup.ac.uk.

Sweet ‘n Greet is a traditional sweet and card shop with all the latest trends so why not bag a sweet treat and a card from here.

Beauty Treatments

Why not treat the person in your life with a voucher from Rotherham College’s very own salon?

The salon is available during the term time for all your hair, beauty, nail and pampering needs. They do massages and relaxing treatments alongside the usual beauty offerings.
