Rotherham is Wonderful: Food, glorious Food!

17 October 2024

Rotherham is developing at a pace with lots of amazing new facilities and places for families and friends to enjoy.

Alongside the new eateries that are going to be joining The Arc Cinema and Travel lodge on Forge Island, there are some wonderful places to enjoy a coffee, lunch with friends or dinner in Rotherham.

Our roving reporter decided to pop into Rotherham to see what was available for locals to enjoy and was pleasantly surprised at the range of food outlets. Here she lists a few of her favourites.

Here’s what’s happening in Rotherham…

On my way down to Riverside House, a fab pink building caught my attention. If you have the munchies, then Munchies is the place for you to enjoy burgers, wraps, wings, shakes and ice cream.

If you want a quiet, relaxed coffee or lunch then the Ministry overlooking the Minster and gardens is a lovely relaxed space to while away a few hours.

If you need a little pick me up from the cold Autumn weather and want to be transported to sunnier climes, then Miele Delicatessen is for you! You can enjoy a proper Italian coffee, surrounded by tempting Italian treats, ingredients and a fabulous gelato counter too.

Walking back into town, I spot the Over the Rainbow cafe which is a colourful space. Reviews about this space are really positive…. “Lovely place with fantastic coffee, delicious cakes and a friendly atmosphere” and “Great bacon sandwich and cup of tea for breakfast.” They even have board games for all abilities!

The Wharncliffe Restaurant

Finally, back at the College, there is The Wharncliffe Restaurant. This is a hidden gem in the town at the back of Rotherham College and opposite Percy Street car park.

Probably Rotherhams only fine dining restaurant, you can enjoy lunches during the term time produced and served by students on Thursdays and Fridays. Special themed events and taster meals happen throughout the year and Christmas is very popular.

Again all produced and served by learners, guided by the Colleges expert staff.

Rotherham has many other eateries to enjoy both in town and out of town so why not explore yourself and see what our wonderful town has to offer.
